Dr. Tharinya Supasa
Project Lead Southeast Asia Energy Policy
Tharinya Supasa works as Project Lead Southeast Asia Energy Policy (SEA). She is coordinating with a partner consortium both international partners and local thinktanks in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. She is developing and implementing demand-driven research and policy works to advise key energy policies to advance the energy transition toward decarbonization in Southeast Asia.
Tharinya was the Chief Editor and Lead Modeler of the 6th ASEAN Energy Outlook (AEO6), the flagship study to examine the Renewable and Energy Intensity target set in the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) phase II: 2021-2025. The study had worked in close collaboration with policymakers from ten ASEAN Member States (AMS) on alter policy options to explore higher efforts to strengthen regional energy security, GHGs mitigation, and accelerating energy transition beyond the current national measures. In addition, she was lead author of varies renewable energy publications, hence, she can bring international experience and insights to SEA, vice versa.
Tharinya studied Energy Engineering and applied an energy-economic models during her Doctoral study and Postdoc at National Central University. She got the Outstanding Dissertation Award by Taiwan Association of Environmental and Resource Economics (TAERE). In addition, she holds a master’s degree in Supply and Logistics Engineering from Warwick University, and bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Chiang Mai University.
