EU Climate Funding Tracker
Data visualisation on the EU's contribution to national climate investment in 2021-2027
About this tool
To meet the European Union’s 2030 climate target, EU Member States will need to scale up their national investments in clean energy, and resource and energy efficiency. The EU’s financial support is essential to make it happen. During the 2021-2027 period, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), the Next Generation EU, and the funds financed through the EU Emissions Trading System (Innovation Fund, Modernisation Fund, and Social Climate Fund) make billions of euros available for climate investment.
The EU climate funding tracker provides an overview of these funding sources, showing their allocation across Member States and sectors, and an assessment of the EU funding contribution in closing the national investment gaps. This assessment takes into account the recent high-cost inflation , which reduces the purchasing power of existing EU funding programmes and funds. The tracker aims to inform the debate on how the EU financial framework should develop to properly support the transition towards climate neutrality by 2050.
