Aksornchan Chaianong
Independent Energy Researcher in Bangkok, Thailand
Aksornchan Chaianong (also goes by Poon), works as an independent energy researcher. Poon has gained valuable experiences in the field of renewable energy economics and policy, flexibility options for renewable system integration and future power market. She spent half a year as a visiting PhD student at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI (Fraunhofer ISI). She was also the first recipient of the International Energy Agency (IEA) C3E fellowship, working on energy issues related to women’s empowerment.
She has graduated as PhD in Energy Technology from the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment in Bangkok, Thailand. Her PhD dissertation focuses on Cost-Benefit Analysis of rooftop PV and battery on Thai utilities and ratepayers. She received her Master degree in Energy and Earth Resources from the University of Texas at Austin in the U.S. She also completed a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok.
During her stay at Agora Energiewende as an EnerTracks Fellow, she will focus her research on flexibility options for integrating renewable energy into the Thai power grid.
