Carol Mungo
Enertracks Training Programme Alumna, Energy and Climate Change, Stockholm Environment Institute
Carol Mungo is a Research Fellow in the Energy and Climate Change Programme at the Stockholm Environment Institute (Africa Centre) based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has a keen interest in sustainable energy development, climate change and environmental sustainability issues in Sub-Saharan Africa. Carol holds an M.Sc. in Environmental and Energy Management (Cum Laude) from the University of Twente in The Netherlands and a BSc. in Environmental Planning and Management from Kenyatta University in Kenya. Carol has previously worked with the Hanns Seidel Foundation Kenya and Ethiopia office as the Project Officer – Regional Sustainability Network. The Network brought together organisations across nine Sub-Saharan African countries for dialogues, knowledge transfer and co-creation of solutions to climate change. Carol has also worked with the Tanzania Traditional Energy Development Organization (TaTEDO) on the promotion of sustainable energy for household and institutional services in different regions of Tanzania. This is in addition to different consulting work on project evaluations and land use change research in rural parts of Kenya and Tanzania. At the EnerTracks Fellowship, Carol will look at challenges and opportunities in the efforts to green the energy grid in Kenya. This research will provide an overview of the systemic and technological challenges in the transition and how they can be reconciled.
