South Korea has actively implemented energy transition policies focusing on coal phase-out and renewable energy for the last five years. However, it is not clear whether the current policies will be continued.

Meanwhile, in Germany's recent federal elections, carbon neutrality received congressional support as candidates from each political party set ambitious targets for deployment of renewable energy sources and coal exit to reach the goals of climate change mitigation.

In this context, this webinar brought together experts from Korean and German governments, think tanks, and NGOs to improve understanding of the two countries’ energy transition policies and discuss the direction of policy that the newly elected government should be made aware of.

The webinar also highlighted each country’s social experiences and practical suggestions for working on the energy transition.

The event took place in English and Korean and Korean-English simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
