Fabian Barrera
Project Lead PtX
Fabian Barrera is Project Lead for Power-to-X (PtX), focusing on South America and Southeast Asia. He is based in Berlin and works in the Hydrogen Team.
Before joining Agora, Fabian worked as Associate Programme Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), where he supported the coordination and implementation of various IRENA initiatives in the region and provided technical support to countries in various aspects of the energy transition, renewable energy, sustainable development and climate action. Previously, he was an Associate Professional for the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA), an initiative facilitated by IRENA looking to increase the use of geothermal energy worldwide. Fabian also provided consultancy services at Ecofys (Guidehouse) in the area of climate strategies and policies and developed his master’s thesis on energy modelling in the transport team at the International Energy Agency (IEA). Additionally, he worked in the Colombian energy sector for more than three years.
Fabian holds a master’s degree in Energy- and Process- Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin and bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the National University of Colombia.
